The hospital has survived with the aid from Germany. Half of the patients are chronic patients living in the hospital and they are not able to contribute to the fees. The Bed Grant paid by the Ministry of Health is only 50 Tsh / day per patient. Compare that to what the patients from local area are paying 8000Tsh/day. In addition Government is paying salary grant for educated staff. The hospital is fighting to get bigger share of government new basket fund.
